South Medford Panthers Varsity fell behind early and couldn’t come back in an 8-4 loss to South Eugene on Tuesday. South Eugene scored on a double by Joseph in the first inning, a walk by Edwards in the second inning, and a single by Vidal in the second inning.

South Eugene fired up the offense in the first inning, when Joseph doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs.

Miller was credited with the victory for South Eugene. He went four innings, allowing one run on two hits and striking out four. Boettcher threw three innings in relief out of the bullpen. Boettcher recorded the last nine outs to earn the save for South Eugene.

Chase Costanti toed the rubber for South Medford Panthers Varsity. He lasted two innings, allowing seven hits and four runs while walking one. Steven Ledendecker and Logan Lauchstedt entered the game as relief, throwing three innings and one inning respectively.

Ledendecker, Charlie Campbell, Bennett Smith, Trevor Marthoski, and Costanti each collected one hit to lead South Medford Panthers Varsity.

South Eugene racked up 12 hits on the day. Boettcher, Vidal, Nelson, Miller, and Brown all managed multiple hits for South Eugene. South Eugene didn’t commit a single error in the field. Brown had eight chances in the field, the most on the team.
