At Spiegelberg, the Panther Girls Soccer team scored the game winning goal with three minutes left in the second half of overtime to top Ashland in the semifinals of the SOC Culminating Tournament. Both teams brought their “A” games to play under the lights in front of an enthusiastic crowd. In the 97th minute, senior Rainie Dabbs connected with freshman Brooke Fairbanks to score the only goal in a 100 minute thriller. Dabbs split two Ashland defenders with a short pass to a Fairbanks making a diagonal run and the freshman made good on her first shot of the night. In the first 80 minutes, the Panthers had three shots carom of the frame – two by senior Emily Ingledew. The back line of defenders of Morgan Burke, Caris Follett, Makayla Peterson and Lexie Clark played the match of the year for the Panthers. The win advances the girls to the championship match against Grants Pass on Saturday at Spiegelberg Stadium scheduled for a 1:00 p.m. kickoff.
