Recently the Medford (consisting of both North and South Medford athletes) competed at the state championships.
The Southern League of the Oregon Interscholastic Snowboard Association consists of 2 teams – one from Ashland and the other from Medford. This year the Medford team consisted of riders from South and North but has had riders from many of the surrounding high schools.
3 South Seniors competed at state this year – Kayla Reiss, Mason Macleod and Trevor Foster and a 4th Isaac Dillon that could not compete due to injury.
Mason placed 8th out of 96 boys in the banked slalom. Pretty awesome considering it was his second year on the team.
Kayla has competed at states all 4 years at South and medaled several times. This year however she came in third in Banked slalom and she won the state championship in the girls boardercross. Banked slalom is an individual timed event while boardercross is a race side by side with three other competitors on the banked slalom course.
The remaining two events, Slopestyle and Half pipe were cancelled due to the COVID crisis.
Congratulations to them all!!!!
